Can’t Change The WordPress Admin Email Address

The Issue

This is a common issue we see with our WordPress website clients. No matter what, they can’t change the WordPress admin email address.

In most cases, the email just will not send: This address is used for admin purposes. If you change this, we will send you an email at your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed.

The Quick Fix

If you have access to your hosting account, or cPanel, navigate to phpmyadmin and search for the wp_options table within your database. On this screen, you should notice the incorrect email address you are trying to change. Edit the field using the pencil icon and click “go”.

If you are trying to change an email address for a WordPress user account, follow the same steps above, BUT, navigate to the wp_users table to see all users and details.
